We are grateful to the many families, friends, schools and organizations that generously give of their time to create, host and attend these events.

Events

2012 Mike "Mish" Shedlock 50/50 Cash Raffle
Date: April 1 - September 27 (Only 30,000 tickets will be sold! If all are sold before September 27, the raffle will close early.)

What:

 

 

Don't miss out on this amazing raffle to help support those battling ALS, and potentially win $1 million! Purchase your tickets today for $200 dollars each. Only 30,000 chances will be sold, so act fast! Winners will be drawn at the Les Turner ALS Foundation office in Skokie, IL, on November 8, 2012. Ten winners will be drawn:

  • 1st Grand Prize is entitled to receive up to $1,000,000 or 16.666% of raffle tickets sold
  • 2nd prize winner is entitled to receive up to $600,000 or 10% of raffle tickets sold.
  • 3rd, 4th and 5th prize winners are entitled to receive up to $300,000 or 5 percent of raffle tickets sold.
  • 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th prize winners are entitled to receive up to $100,000 or 1.6666 percent of raffle tickets sold.

Whether or not all tickets are sold, all prizes are before taxes.

Trivia for a Cure
Date: Friday, May 18
Where: Sam's Fargo Lounge, 4204 Avenue of the Cities, Moline, IL
Time: Doors open at 6:00pm, trivia starts at 7:00pm

What:

 

 

Join us for a night of trivia in support of ALS research and patient care. This trivia tournament also features a 50/50 raffle, heads or tails contest, and more. Cash bar, and food will be available for purchase.

Cost:

$10 per person entry fee.

The 12th Annual Lew Blond Run/Walk
Date: Saturday, June 2
Where: Maple School, 2730 Shermer Road, Northbrook, IL
Time: Registration starts at 7:00am

What:

 

 

This CARA-certified race, now in its 12th year, honors the memory of Lew Blond, an exceptional and dedicated District 30 teacher who passed away from ALS in 2000. This flat, scenic course goes through the Maple School neighborhood. Proceeds benefit ALS research, scholarships for prospective teachers at the Glenbrook High Schools and special District 30 projects.

Cost:

Adult: $30 (before May 25). Children 14 and under: $15 (before May 25).

2nd Annual Gary Griffith Golf Outing
Date: Saturday, June 2
Where: Ruffled Feathers Golf Club, 1 Pete Dye Drive Lemont, IL
Time: Registration: 7:00am. Tee-off: 8:00am.

What:

 

 

Join us for the 2nd Annual Gary Griffith Golf Outing at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont, IL. This event is memory of Gary Griffith who passed away from ALS in 2008. Registration includes: one round of golf, continental breakfast, BBQ lunch, nonalcoholic beverages, one drink ticket for an import or domestic beer, post-golf buffet, event t-shirt, golf ball with logo, and one raffle ticket. Please come be part of this fantastic event by purchasing tickets at the website provided below.

Cost:

$175 per golfer before May 2, $200 thereafter. Buffet only is $50.

1st Annual AppleCor Dance for ALS
Date: Sunday, June 24
Where: Arthur Murray Dance Studio, 1328 Waukegan Road, Glenview, IL
Time: 4:00pm - 7:00pm

What:

 

 

Join us for a few hours of dance with professional dance instructors! Be ready for an evening of fun, dance, buffet, education, and a silent auction. This event will also feature an educational speaker about ALS.

7th Annual Diamond Dare Charity Baseball Game
Date: Tuesday, June 26
Where: The Ballpark at Rosemont, 27 Jennie Finch Way Rosemont, IL
Time: 7:05pm ceremonial first pitch

What:

 

 

Come out and support the two-time NPF Champion, Chicago Bandits take on the amatueur ALS CNMSBL team playing in support of the Les Turner ALS Foundation. A perfect outing for the entire family! There are two ways to get involved:

1. Donate in support of one or more of the amateur players.

2. Come out on Friday, May 4, to enjoy an evening of baseball. There will be kid's games in the Kid's Play Area of the stadium, and an exciting raffle and silent auction featuring restaurants, sports memorbilia and other items. ALS patient and the family of John Stensland will throw out the first pitch of the game at 6:00pm.

Cost:

Prices vary from $8.25 to $13.25 per game ticket.

Four-Man Scramble Golf Tournament
Date: Sunday, August 19
Where: Saukie Golf Course, 3101 38th Street, Rock Island, IL
Time: 6:00pm - 10:00pm

What:

 

 

Join us for scramble golf tournament with all proceeds going to the Les Turner ALS Foundation. Ticket price includes golfing and dinner. Prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin. Non-golfers are welcome to attend the dinner.

Tournament is limited to 80 golfers, so register today!

Cost:

$55 per person. Hole and golf cart sponsorships also available.
