The Les Turner ALS Foundation is pleased to announce that, this week, the Senate voted to pass Senator Dick Durbin’s (D-IL) amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act to protect crucial medical research programs for ALS funded by the Department of Defense (DOD). The Act authorizes funding for ALS medical research programs (ALSRP) at DOD, which have been funded annually since 2007, and supports translational research designed to discover new treatments for ALS. The Les Turner ALS Foundation has, for the last several years, been actively involved with the ALSRP by providing two representatives, including one of our board members, from the Foundation who serve on various review committees.  Find out more about the DOD ALSRP click here.
