Participating in ALS Clinical Research

Progress — 43%

Expanded access (EA)

EA programs are specifically designed for people with serious or life-threatening diseases like ALS. EA may be an option for some people who don’t meet the eligibility criteria for a clinical trial to access an investigational product (like a study drug) that’s currently being studied but is not yet approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Because availability for EA is limited, these programs are typically rare and have very specific eligibility criteria.

If you would like to learn more about EA, talk to your medical providers. They may be able to recommend a program in your area. You can also explore the resources at the end of this module.
