Benefit: Additional breathing support from a ventilator

Most people living with ALS who get a trach also use invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV). With IMV, a ventilator is connected to your trach for additional breathing support. People living with ALS can use IMV for all or part of the day, depending on their needs.
