Empowering choices: Watch our new video on clinical research

Deciding whether to join a clinical research study is a personal and significant choice for people living with ALS. To help empower these decisions, we’ve created a new video featuring Emma Schmidt and Candace James, who work in clinical research at the Lois Insolia ALS Clinic at the Les Turner Center at Northwestern Medicine.

In the video, they share insights on our latest decision tool, My ALS Decision Tool™: Participating in Clinical Research, developed in collaboration with NEALS and experts nationwide.

Whether you’re exploring clinical research or supporting someone who is, this video offers valuable guidance for making informed decisions. Watch the video on YouTube now and learn how this tool can help navigate the clinical research process.

Make the most of your year-end giving

As you plan your year-end contributions, consider these tax-savvy ways to give while supporting ALS care and research:

  • Gifts of Appreciated Stock: Donate stocks with built-in capital gains to avoid future taxes while enjoying an charitable income tax deduction.
  • Qualified Charitable Distributions: If you’re over 70 and a half, donate up to $100,000 from your IRA to charity and satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution, tax-free.
  • Charitable Bequests: Leave a legacy by including the Les Turner ALS Foundation in your will or trust–costs nothing now, but creates lasting impact.

Our team is ready to help with any of these options. With about a third of charitable giving occurring in December, your generosity matters more than ever. Visit our Ways to Donate webpage to learn more about giving opportunities.
