With spring in the air, there’s no better time than now to tackle those outdoor chores with a little help from your (volunteer) friends. Thanks to our partners at the LiveLikeLou Foundation, they are offering volunteer assistance and an opportunity to apply for a scholarship for higher education.
THE GREAT LIVELIKELOU OUTDOOR CLEAN-UP
The LiveLikeLou Foundation and its partners at Phi Delta Theta Fraternity have set out to leave ALS better than they found it in honor of the fraternity brother, Lou Gehrig. With thousands of volunteers across North America ready to serve ALS families, if you or an ALS family you know could use outdoor, hands-on, one-time service, please fill out this brief form. The LiveLikeLou Foundation will match volunteers for the support you need (yard clean up, garage clean out, simple equipment assembly, camaraderie with ALS patients or their kids, etc.).
Great Outdoor Clean-Up Family Application
If you or someone you know has been touched by ALS and has a dependent child or grandchild who is pursuing higher education (two-year, undergraduate, graduate), LiveLikeLou is pleased to invite them to submit an interest application for an Iron Horse Scholarship.
This renewable, four-year scholarship provides up to $2,130 per semester for up to eight semesters for students pursuing an advanced degree.
The scholarship value, $2,130, harkens Lou Gehrig’s consecutive-games played record and reminds our award recipients of all that Lou stood for in the face of ALS. The deadline for interest applications is Friday, April 1, 2022.
Finalists for Iron Horse Scholarships will be determined in April and asked to complete an additional application including letters of recommendation. Iron Horse Scholarship recipients will be announced in July.

We are grateful to our friends at LiveLikeLou for offering these amazing opportunities. We wouldn’t be able to do the work that we do without them. Together, we give hope to those living with ALS and their loved ones, while moving closer to our shared vision of a world free of ALS.
Best,
