Walker Wednesday #4 Maximizing the Web

Ashley RosenbrockFoundation Blog, Walker Wednesday

Hello, walkers! Welcome to Walker Wednesday where we share inspiring stories and tips on how to run a successful fundraiser and keep you up to date on Walk news.

Maximizing the Web

You can build your team and exceed your fundraising goals all from your phone or computer! This Walker Wednesday will be all about making the most of fundraising through the internet.

Facebook Fundraisers
Facebook fundraisers are one of the easiest and most effective ways to achieve your fundraising goal. And with the ability to connect your Facebook fundraiser directly to your participant center, it’s a breeze!
Money collected through Facebook fundraisers will only accumulate in your Walk page fundraising total if the Facebook fundraiser was created through your participant center.

Here’s a guide to setting up a Facebook fundraiser through your participant center

Social Media Kit

Social media is a fantastic way to share why you Walk and ask people to join your team and donate.
We made these pre-made social media graphics and captions to make it easy to share your efforts with your social network.

Share Your Fundraising Page Through Text and Email
Text
Share the link to your fundraising page through text and include a short message about why you’re fundraising for the foundation and how their donation will make a difference.
Email
Your participant center is equipped to make sending emails easy.
Through your participant center, you can send emails using one of our many pre-written email templates. And you can keep track of whom you’ve emailed, who has donated, and whom you’ve thanked all in one place

Walker Spotlight: Gary Kravitz

Gary Kravitz has participated in the Walk every year since 2004, missing only one when his mother passed from ALS.

His favorite part about the Walk is reconnecting with the same people and teams year after year.

Gary uses a variety of different online methods to fundraise and spread the word. He shares the link to the event and his fundraising page on Nextdoor and his neighborhood Facebook groups, posts on his social media, and sends multiple personalized emails to his friends and family. His advice for first-time walkers is to raise money in as many different ways as you can. He also wants to remind people to post publicly on social media and use hashtags to get more eyes on their posts

Employee Matching

Many employers will match a portion of the money their employees raise for charity.
Check our website to see if your workplace participates.
