Celebrating Our Heroic Nurses

Nurses are heroes, plain and simple. And those of us in the ALS community know that nurses have always been essential.

Despite this crisis, the amazing nurses at our Lois Insolia ALS Clinic at the Les Turner ALS Center at Northwestern Medicine and our Support Services Team are still hard at work supporting people living with ALS every step of the way.

To all our nurses and nurse practitioners, Karen, Julie, Francesca, Meghan, Casey, Talia, Erin, Angela, Lauren, April and Abigail, thank you for all you do. You are true heroes. Send a thank you email to any of our extraordinary nurses here and we’ll pass along the message>>

Taking Strike Out Virtual

For 10 years, we have hosted our signature Strike Out ALS 5k and 1 Mile Run, Walk & Roll every summer.

And we’re not stopping now.  That’s why we’re taking Strike Out virtual this July!

While we won’t be getting together at Guaranteed Rate Field, you can still register as an individual or as part of a team. You can still fundraise in support of our Les Turner ALS family. You can still race towards a cure.

Registration for this year’s Strike Out ALS 5k and 1 Mile Run, Walk & Roll will open later this month. Stay tuned for our announcement email in the coming weeks! Interested in becoming a sponsor or know someone who is? Contact Steve, our Director of Development>

There’s No One Like Mom

Meghan Froehner and her mother, Deborah, saw two different neurologists before finding their way to our Lois Insolia ALS Clinic at the Les Turner ALS Center at Northwestern Medicine when Deborah was diagnosed with ALS.

“Most recently, I have had my mom on my heart and mind a lot, feeling like I need to do something with the Les Turner ALS Foundation that did so much for us,” shares Meghan.

Meghan became our very first Virtual Tag Days Captain for ALS Awareness Month, setting a goal of raising $1,000 to support people living with ALS like her mother. And in just one day, Meghan was half-way to her goal!

We’re so grateful to Meghan and all of our Virtual Tag Days Captains who have stepped up to support our Les Turner ALS family. There’s still time to become a Virtual Tag Days Captain just like Meghan, so send us an email to get started>>
